Wedding Legals

Marriageable age is 18, however, authorisation of marriage under 18 is possible in exceptional circumstances.

A Notice of Intended Marriage must be completed, witnessed and lodged with me at least one month prior to the date of your Wedding and is valid for 18 months.

Shortening of Time – If you wish to get married prior to the one month time frame, applications to the Government can be made, however, approval is not guaranteed.

Identification must be sighted by me for proof of your date and place of birth. E.g. Birth Certificate, Licence, Australian/Overseas Passport.

Divorce or Death Certificates must also be sighted by me if you have been previously married.

There are further Legal Requirements leading up to and throughout the Ceremony and we will go through those as we prepare for your Wedding.
